"The Coming and the Going"

Author's Note

A call to worship.

To live is to emerge from oneness;
to emerge is to feel apart;
to feel apart is to become aware of difference;
to become aware of difference is to think of self and others;
to think of self and others is the beginning of the search;
to begin the search is to yearn for understanding;
to understand is to deepen commonality;
to deepen commonality is to create community;
to create community is to merge in oneness;
to merge in oneness is to find our way home.
Let us celebrate the coming
and the going.
Amen.

Can't help but think of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and Helplessly Hoping. They are one person. They are two alone. They are three together. They are for each other. Obviously the oneness in Bob's poem need not connect to romantic oneness, but I think it can if we want it to.
